It will do it with a $90.5 million bond for seven and a half years using conventional financing. It will be done without raising your taxes.
And while every school will receive some kind of upgrade, Del City Elementary will get the classroom space it needs for students coming from Sooner-Rose Elementary School, and East Side Elementary will get a new school so it is able to handle the rest of the students from Sooner-Rose and Traub.
This bond will also replace Soldier Creek elementary as well.
Since the last bond election, Mid-Del Schools has changed its superintendent, and the staff of Mid-Del has spent months talking to thousands of Mid-Del patrons. This bond reflects their wishes.
There was overwhelming support for a reduction in administration in the central office, so whether this bond passes or not, the office staff has been reduced by 14 people, with a savings of more than half a million dollars a year.
This bond is a sensible start in reducing the cost of
running 60-year-old schools and improves the educational opportunities
for every student, while not raising your taxes. Please vote yes on
Sept. 13.
