There was little, if any, doubt the Thunder players were glad to be back home in Chesapeake Arena and winning again. The supposed home court advantage hadn’t been so kind against teams like Cleveland, San Antonio and Houston. All three were games the Thunder and their fans would have liked to win, but they didn’t. When looking at the record of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the casual observer might think there are no problems for the top team in the Western Conference.
However, a closer examination of key stats will illustrate that the Thunder has one major issue to improve on – turnovers.
The high number of turnovers has been a constant source of worry for head coach Scott Brooks.
So far, Oklahoma City has shown the uncanny ability to have more turnovers than their opponent and still win. Not so last week when the Thunder played at Atlanta and committed 21 turnovers compared to 14 for the Hawks.
There’s no stopping Durant, who even excels away from the Thunder team. Last Sunday, the lanky power forward tallied 36 points in the NBA All-Star game to win the Most Valuable Player Award. The Wolves outscored the Titans in the shootout to notch the 1-0 victory. Carl Albert now stands at 3-1 with wins over Guymon, Chickasha and Mustang and is ranked No. 6 in Class 5A.
