Carl Albert spring teams reload

Seay looks to lower scores

Though standout JT Realmuto is now in spring training with the Florida Marlins in Jupiter, Fla., Carl Albert has plenty coming back off of last season’s 35-7 squad.

Top returning offensive players are Taylor Hawkins (.486, 19 HRs, 70 RBIs, 20 2Bs), Alex Polston (.481, 83 runs, 11 HRs, 19 2Bs) and A.J. Wilson (.435, 11 RBIs).

Returning on the mound with an unblemished 7-0 record is Jordan Hammer.

“We have several good new faces offensively in Chevin Noone, Justin McGregor and Gavin LaValley,” Dozier said. “Pitching is always a question. We have Jordan Hammer and Hawkins (2-2) returning, but all the others are new or have limited innings. Mark Meadors, Cameron Warren and Hammer will be the starters. Hawkins will close and then we will fill out our middle relief with the remainder of our staff.”

Carl Albert plays host to Dumas, Texas, at 4 p.m. Friday.

The Lady Titans wound up a healthy 12-3 on the soccer field last spring and ended their season versus Deer Creek in regionals.

“Lindsey Roberts (a Midwest City transfer) definitely helps us out,” soccer skipper Jeremy Hymel said. “The girls will be reloading this year since we only graduated one senior and acquired Lindsey and a very good freshman, Courtney Essary.”

Hymel lists girls to watch as Ciara Mitchell, Angelica Daggs and Jamie White on offense and Sara Zeckser and Alyssa Ramsey on defense.

The Titans fell in the opening round of the postseason to McGuinness to end 2010 at 9-4. Marking back Jaryl Blackwell and goalkeeper David Borum will hold the defense down and Shomari Shocks,
