Police seek stabbing suspect

Antwaun Lavel Wells, 22, of Oklahoma City sought in investigation

By Eastword Staff

An Oklahoma County judge signed an arrest warrant for Antwaun Lavel Wells, 22, of Oklahoma City. Police said Wells was identified by two people as the person who attempted to steal more than $1,000 in merchandise and allegedly stabbed a loss prevention officer when confronted at the front of the store.

The Target employee was taken to an area hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Wells and two females fled the stabbing scene in a Dodge Neon, which was spotted by Lt. Greg Wipfli. The officer chased Wells to Interstate 40 and Tinker Diagonal, where Wells’ car stopped and all three suspects fled on foot.

Michelle Dee Turner, 25, was apprehended and arrested on complaints of grand larceny and assault with a deadly weapon. She is being held at the Oklahoma County jail in lieu of a $14,000 bond.

During the attempted larceny, the loss prevention officer told Wells to return the property and leave the store.

“Instead, Wells pulled out a 4-inch knife, told the loss prevention officer, ‘This is the real world, and I’m gonna get what I came for,’ and then brutally stabbed our defenseless victim,” Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said. “Antwaun Wells should be considered armed and dangerous. Wells obviously has no moral fiber or regard for human life.”

Anyone with information about Wells’ whereabouts, or the identity of the other female suspect, should contact the Midwest City Police at 739-1306.
