A homicide victim’s estranged husband and his girlfriend were arrested Monday in connection with the Jan. 11 shooting death of Midwest City resident Jessica Brown.
Brown’s husband, Fabion Brown, 24, and Emily Matheson, 23, were booked into the Midwest City Jail on complaints of conspiracy to commit murder.
A third person, identified as Brodic Glover, 19, is being sought by police based on allegations that he shot Brown and her unborn child in exchange for cash. Jessica Brown was six months pregnant when she was killed, investigators discovered.
Investigators said they have not identified the father of the unborn child, and are reluctant to say if the pregnancy may have been a contributing factor to the woman’s death.
Police did not disclose the type of gun used or how many times the woman was shot.
“Some of the basic details we know at this point are Fabion Brown, along with Matheson, conspired to kill Jessica and her unborn child in exchange for a small amount of cash,” Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said. “It appears they recruited Glover to commit an act of murder.”
Late Tuesday, Oklahoma County District Judge Ray Elliott signed an arrest warrant for Glover.
Two teenagers who were in Glover’s car at the crime scene are in custody on unrelated charges. They were apprehended last weekend as persons of interest in the homicide case. Clabes said the teens, who were not identified, later accompanied Glover to a Walmart store. Security camera footage from the retail store showed Glover and the two teenagers walking together.
The investigation also has revealed Fabion rented a car and “gave it to Glover” to use as part of the plot to kill Jessica Brown.
“He knew his car would be noticed if it was driven in that neighborhood,” Clabes said, of the murder-for-hire plot.
Fabion Brown and Matheson were taken from the Midwest City Jail to the Oklahoma County Jail Wednesday morning. Formal charges against the pair are pending a review of the case by the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s office.
Motive Police believe Fabion Brown ordered his wife’s killing because she planned to leave Oklahoma with their two children – ages 2 and 4.
“It is extremely sad that this young mother and her unborn child lost their lives for such a pittance of money and anger,” Clabes said.
Jessica Brown had two life insurance policies, one through the Oklahoma National Guard, and another that Fabion Brown had taken out on his wife.
Jessica Brown was found dead Jan. 11 after neighbors called 911 and said her children were playing outside the house in their pajamas and were unsupervised.
When officers arrived, they spoke to the 4-year-old boy who said his mother was inside “sleeping.” After entering the house at 933 Locust Drive, officers discovered the woman had died from a gunshot wound.
