Lojka spent 29 years at the Midwest City Fire Department and served in several roles, including firefighter, inspector, investigator, public education officer, public information officer and fire marshal.
His favorite job was that of department spokesman as he answered questions from the press, and conveyed important fire prevention tips to the public.

Mid-Del Schools was recognized with five awards for excellence in school public relations during a recent conference in Guthrie.
The awards were presented by the Oklahoma School Public Relations Association.
Mid-Del Schools’ Director of Community Relations Stacey Boyer, a past president of the state organization, was recognized for the production of multiple projects. Boyer and Johnny Thompson, director of elementary teaching and learning, also were honored for the production of the district’s new professional development videos and website.
