No new tax increase

By Herman G. Nelson

This city and no other city needs a tax increase at this time, due to the nation’s financial and debt crises.

Our citizens, for the most part, are having to cut back to meet their minimum overhead and our city officials should do the same.

These improvements they propose can go on hold now until we see how long this depression is going to last. No new taxes should be put on the taxpayer now.

Our maintenance plant people are capable of retaining our present sewer facility. What the council should be doing is to find a way to reduce the EPA regulations which have cost millions of jobs and put unethical laws on the backs of small cities, citizens and business. (In other words, abolish the EPA.)

Our nation is broke because of our federal debt, which has passed it on to the states.
