Last Friday was a mix of tearful goodbyes in the midst of steady preparation as the Mid-Del swim team hosted senior night at the Rose State College Aquatic Center.
Enid and Putnam City West came to town for the swim teams’ last home meet of the year.
However, there was work still to be done with regionals right around the corner and Carl Albert made sure to stay on top of their game taking the meet.
The Titan swimmers won with a combined score of 202 with the girls taking first place with 98 and the boys falling short by 17 points to take second place with 104.
The Titan girls had a great day in the water with their 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Alli Azzano, Rachel Cook, Jen Litchfield, and Brooklyn Toney taking first place.
Litchfield would continue the success with a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle while Azzano netted double second place finishes in the 50 and 100-yard freestyles.
The girls finished strong with Cook winning the 100-yard backstroke and Baleigh Colon elevating to the second spot in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The senior-led boys’ team had a memorable final meet. Seniors Jaedon Roe and Tim Hyland finished first and second respectively in the 50-yard freestyle, while senior Sidney White and Hyland led their 200-yard relay team to a second place finish. Ryan Wade and Nick Tu rounded out the relay team.
Alex Lawrence continued his dominance in the 400-yard freestyle with another first place finish.
The usual suspects of Lawrence, Hyland, Roe and White came together to win both the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays.
Midwest City’s Sarah Brown finished her home-meet career off in style by setting two schools records in the 200 yard and 400 yard freestyle.
Other notable finishes include Bombers’ swimmer Shephard Hall, who won the 200-yard freestyle, and Del City’s lone swimmer Greyson Wolfe who finished just behind Hall in second place.
Regionals kick off next for these talented swimmers starting Friday, Feb. 7 through Saturday, Feb. 8 in Edmond at the Edmond Schools Aquatic Center.
