Game 5: Your guess is as good as mine
If ever there was a game both teams deserved to lose, it was the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 105-104 potentially series-swinging win over the Los Angles Clippers Tuesday night.

On a night, Thunder forward Kevin Durant shot 6-22 from the field. It looked like a guaranteed Thunder loss with the Clips up 7 and 42 ticks remaining.

EOC track stars state bound
The best of the best punched their tickets to the state track meet next weekend, in several regionals across the state. Each of our five teams sent at least one competitor each: together they sent 51 athletes. Each region automatically sends the top three finishers in each event, and the next four athletes in the state, in any region, also qualify.

Midwest City dropped the first game of the tournament but rebounded to win four straight on the weekend. That resilience bodes well as they near closer to playoff time where they will need to be at their best.

EOC high school teams took to the track again last week. Harrah, Choctaw, Carl Albert, Del City and Midwest City met at the Carl Albert Invitational Meet on Tuesday. Del City, Midwest City and Carl Albert would then go on to face each other again at Yukon that Friday.

Lady Yellow Jackets wild weekend ends rough
It was a tense two days that ended in heartbreak for the 6A’s No. 5 Choctaw Lady Yellow Jackets. The Lady Yellow Jackets kept their fans on the edge of their seats in back to back thrillers as they beat No. 13 Sapulpa 55-52 Friday night with a crazy comeback but got a taste of their own medicine by No. 1 Broken Arrow the next night losing 65-63

Lady Titans basketball caught a bad case of déjà vu as they saw their season end in the 5A state semifinals for the second straight year. No. 4 Carl Albert survived a third quarter rally by No 5. Collinsville in the quarterfinals to advance to the next round with a 37-32 win.

Harrah endured a heartbreaking loss 52-51 last Thursday as they took on the Mount Saint Mary Lady Rockets. The game started out rough for both teams as they turned the ball over a combined 9 times, but eventually the girls settled down and started to play.

State Championship Wrestling
At this year’s 93rd annual OSSAA Wrestling State Tournament, 18 wrestlers qualified from Carl Albert, Choctaw, Midwest City, and Del City combined. Out of those 18, three took third place and three took second place. However the day belonged to Clayton Lamb from Del City as he took home the state championship for 5A’s 132 pound weight class.

Del City boys basketball took their regional in style last weekend with two blow out victories at home. The Eagles, ranked 8th in 5A, suited up in John Smith Fieldhouse for the last time this season after beating Skiatook and Coweta on back to back nights.

Mid-Del swim hangs tough at state
The three small swim teams from the high schools of Carl Albert, Del City and Midwest City left it all in the pool for the state swimming finals last weekend in Edmond. The size of the teams has never stopped the Mid-Del team from lofty goals and making huge waves in the water. Last weekend was no exception.

15 Mid-Del high schools wrestlers had their hard work on the mat payoff last weekend by punching their tickets to state. The Del City Eagles coming off a semifinals loss in dual state continued to shine sending nine wrestlers to state.

Carl Albert hoops survive tune-up games
Tuesday, Carl Albert basketball took matching tune-up game victories on the road against a pair of ranked Western Heights teams. Due to the game being a make-up game and not counting towards the playoff seeding, the game was essentially meaningless except to provide the four teams an opportunity to work out the bugs before playoffs start this Thursday.

Midwest City said goodbye to 11 seniors Friday night against the Southmoore SaberCats in the last home game of the regular season. Senior night at J.E. Sutton Fieldhouse was filled with plenty of Bomber Magic as the two squads grabbed victories.

Cardiac Cats strike back
The Destiny Christian Lady Wildcats (18-6) won their second straight state title the hard way last week. The ladies survived two consecutive must win situations by staging second half comebacks against Liberty Lady Eagles and Providence Lady Patriots to take the Oklahoma Christian Schools Athletic Association 3A state title.

Wildcats dominate to take state title
The Destiny Christian Wildcats (26-4) ended a decade long run together in dominating fashion to take their second straight state title. The senior laden team, most of which had been playing together since third grade, passed their last test of adversity with flying colors to take home the Oklahoma Christian Schools Athletic Association 3A state title last week.
