It was a dominating performance as the Choctaw Yellow Jackets took out the Putnam City West Patriots 76-6.
The Patriots came out strong with a quick pin by Brandon Sparks to defeat Jordan Brandon in just 28 seconds after the first period.
Although Choctaw’s Garret Rowe took a little longer at 1:53 in the first period, he pinned Taylor Simmons with ease after several near falls and takedowns.
This loss was just the start to a long list of Patriot wrestlers to go down. Next on the Yellow Jackets hit list: Oscar Orozco. Tyler Rhodes pinned him with 1:32 left in the first period.
After 1:26 on the mat, Choctaw’s Dylan Wakelee finished off Dustin Sparks with a pin.
The next three matches were won by forfeit, as the Patriots did not have anyone to compete.
The Jackets continued to pin every Patriot that hit the mat.
Chase King and Clay Lester pinned Christian Vargas in 1:21 and Dimitri Smith in 1:10 respectfully.
Alex Theland wrestled the only match that wasn’t decided by a pin against Putman City West’s Paxton Kliever. Although Theland never pinned Kliever he still controlled the mat the entire match winning on a major decision 15-4.
By the time Tanner Mathews took the mat, the match was decided as the score stood 52-6.
