The award-winning Choctaw High School Fine Arts Program continues its 2015 theatre season with the high-energy musical, FOOTLOOSE! Inspired by the wildly popular 1984 movie, FOOTLOOSE has thrilled high school, community, and Broadway audiences across the country. It’s a story of American spirit – a carefree city kid (Joel Anderson as “Ren McCormack”) transplanted to a conservative rural town where rock ‘n roll and dancing are illegal. After the culture shock, Ren tries to gain support from his friends to overturn the extreme ban, and while doing so, he catches the attention of the preacher’s daughter (Sierra Sikes as “Ariel Moore”). FOOTLOOSE celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people – guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.

This explosive musical features songs like “Almost Paradise,” “Holding out for a Hero,” and “Let’s Hear It for the Boy” mixed with new material written specifically for the stage musical. It’s an energetic show with great music showcasing the talents of over 100 cast, crew, and musicians comprised of Choctaw-Nicoma Park students, adults and alum! FOOTLOOSE is under the direction of Maryjane Burton with Assistant Director/Lead Choreographer Justin Larman and includes the creative team of Music Director Dan Lucas and Conductor Chase Anderson. Rounding out the leading cast are: Dylan Herrin as Willard, Hope Chancey and Carleigh Gierhart as Rusty, Kalyn Glover as Urleen, Morgan Cherry and Megan Wiggins as Wendy Jo, and Austin Herrin as Chuck Cranston. Also featured will be Choctaw High School’s Teacher of the Year, Adam Bass, as Reverend Shaw Moore; Nicoma Park Elementary’s Julie Kendrick as Vi Moore; Choctaw Elementary’s Lydia Carlton as Ethel McCormack and Jacque Hogue as Eleanor Dunbar; and Westfall Elementary’s Griffin Maxwell as Principal Clark.

Tickets for FOOTLOOSE, The Musical are priced from $12 General Admission to $15 and $18 Reserved seating. Dinner Theatre is an additional $7 per ticket. Performances are February 19 – 21 and 26 – 28 at 7:30 p.m. and February 22 for a 2:30 p.m. Sunday Matinee.
