EOC Tech’s most recent Business Incubator tenant sees record growth
For the last 4 years, Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center has been providing a space for local businesses to grow and prosper. In September of 2014, Green Country Electric entered EOC Tech’s Business Incubator as their newest tenant. Over the last 6 months, Green Country Electric has seen a growth in customers and staff that owner/CEO Brandon Pitts hasn’t seen since his father founded the company y in 1977.
Brandon became a formal electrician when he gained his apprenticeship under his father’s watchful eye. During this time, Brandon always dreamed about running the family business. Unfortunately, in 2001 Brandon’s father passed away.
Brandon was a local union electrician from 1995 to 2012. That year, Brandon went full-time as the president/owner of Green Country Electric.
When Brandon first heard about the Business Incubator, the company was operating out of his home. Green Country Electric was not in a position to purchase adequate property. However, when EOC Tech representative Julie Farmer reached out to Brandon about the recent vacancy in the incubator, it was an easy decision for his company to begin a relationship with EOC Tech.
Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center was able to provide Pitts with a place for his office space and inventory. Since Green Country Electric entered the Business Incubator, Brandon’s employee base has more than doubled. Additionally, two of Brandon’s newest employees were hand picked from a pool of skilled students from EOC Tech’s Electrical Trades program. Green Country Electric is also a part of the Tech Center’s Small Business Program, which allows Brandon and his team to attend training opportunities like QuickBooks Pro Classes and utilize EOC Tech’s Plan Room and expert small business staff.
The agreement between Green Country Electric and Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center has been beneficial to both companies’ and the communities involved. Eastern Oklahoma County is expanding in a well-developed business district, and through the success of businesses like Green Country Electric and other companies that utilize the services offered at EOC Tech Business Development Center the local community will continue to grow and prosper. When asked about his company’s recent success and growth, Brandon said, “I am very busy, but I am at a level of busy that some people in my position can only dream about.”
