It’s not every day an inspiring gymnast meets an Olympic star.
On Oct. 3, Tumble Stars Gymnastics Center welcomed Jake Dalton for a meet and greet, including autographs.
The Midwest City gym has a membership of 500 local youth and is owned by Randy and Kelley Taylor, and Rebekah Price.
Dalton was in the area visiting metro gymnastic centers as a build-up to his performance the next day with the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Although Dalton hails from Nevada, he trained with the Sooners at the University of Oklahoma.
During the recent Olympic games held this summer in London, Dalton finished fifth in the floor exercise final. He was the two-time defending U.S. champion on the floor going to the competition.
Kelley Taylor said Tumble Stars was chosen to receive Dalton based on ticket sales. She explained that since Tumble Stars members had purchased a large number of tickets for the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions, this qualified the gym for a special visitor.
Rebekah Price said she was pretty shocked to be chosen but excited about the opportunity for their members.
Tumble Stars is located at 1700 Republic Ave. in Midwest City. For more information about the center, call 741-7827 or visit www.tumblestars.com.
