• Sometimes in America, our rush to condemn wrongdoers and exact justice steers us away from offering up real solutions.

  • Game 1 of the NBA Western Conference Finals ended how it started, with the Oklahoma City Thunder still searching for answers.
  • Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Scott Brooks made a terrible coaching mistake in the Thunder’s game 4 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers that allowed them to even the series 2-2.
  • Four. That’s the most important number from the Thunder’s game one 122-105 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
  • Throughout the entirety of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s game 5 100-99 overtime loss to Memphis, a war raged in my mind.

Who is most responsible for the Thunders’ ridiculously inefficient playoff offense, Sam Presti or Scott Brooks?
  • After Monday’s game two loss to the seventh seeded Memphis Grizzlies which evened the series 1-1, some Oklahoma City Thunder fans are saying this is no time to panic while others are saying this is the perfect time to panic.
  • Losing a perennial all-star point guard in Russell Westbrook has obvious consequences in the win-loss column for Oklahoma City Thunder, but it could turn up huge for forward Kevin Durant when it comes to the vote for the MVP.
  • If I laid out this set of facts for you in a matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs before the season started, what would you have said the outcome would be?
  • Bullying over the last few weeks has come to the forefront of American debate. It started at the end of October when a Texas parent called foul after their son’s high school team lost 91-0. It gained more steam last week as more information came out about the Miami Dolphin’s locker situation.
  • Hope, in the form of Russell Westbrook, returned Sunday night in the Thunder’s 103-96 win against the Phoenix Suns in the Thunder’s home opener. It was announced Westbrook was medically cleared to play early Sunday morning, and he didn’t disappoint.

  • The Oklahoma City Thunder wrapped up their preseason schedule last week as they looked to gear up for their two game road trip against Northwest Division rivals to start the season. It’s odd to see a team only one year removed from the mountain top of the Western Conference start off the season on a mini-road trip. Then again, the Thunder aren’t your usual title contender.

  • OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City Barons opened the 2013-14 season Friday evening with a 3-2 loss to the Charlotte Checkers at the Cox Convention Center.

Brody Sutter scored the game-winning goal at the 14:44 mark of third period to give the Checkers the win.

Justin Peters earned the win in net for the Checkers, while Richard Bachman picked up the loss for the Barons (0-1-0-0).

Charlotte took an early lead with Chris Terry’s goal just 49 seconds into the game. Bachman recorded had two great saves against Nicolas Blanchard and Matt Marquardt, but Mark Flood put the Checkers up 2-0 at 11:51.

The Checkers led the Barons in shots 15-6 at the first intermission.

  • Tuesday’s news from Thunder HQ was brief and to the point: the team will be without star point guard Russell Westbrook for a few more weeks.

A statement from Sam Presti, Thunder general manager, advised that Westbrook underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday.

As a result, Westbrook is expected to miss the first 4-6 weeks of the upcoming 2013-14 regular season.

  • It just wasn’t in the cards for the Edmonton Oilers, the NHL parent club of the OKC Barons, when they came to town for a preseason game against the Dallas Stars Friday night.

The fans were out in waves, including a large number of Stars fans.

The game was off to a quick start when former OKC Baron Arcabello excited the crowd with a near miss on a breakaway mid-way through the first.

  • Local soccer fans prepare for the USA vs. Mexico World Cup qualifying match Sept. 10 at Wes Welker’s Bar & Grill in Oklahoma City. The watch party was hosted by the OKC NASL soccer franchise. The club was represented at the event by soccer consultant Chris Taylor and owner Tim McLaughlin. OKC NASL gave away branded club merchandise. The team, which begins play in 2015, recently unveiled its temporary team crest. It can be viewed at www.okcnasl2015.com.
