Due to the weather, the Mid-Del swim team swam in two events this week. Friday, they traveled to Atlus and then they were right back in the pool on Monday for a meet in Harrah. The Mid-Del kids were still able to have two great showings despite the little rest.
In Atlus, the Carl Albert boys team took second place by just 1.5 points. They started their swim by narrowly edging out Atlus by .34 of a second with a time of 2:01.29 in the 200-yard medley relay to take first place. They also took first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Jaedon Roe continued the scoring by placing second in the 50-yard freestyle while Alex Lawrence won the 400-yard freestyle with a new school record of 4:30:32. Sidney White placed second in the 100-yard backstroke
For the Carl Albert girls, they finished in third place. They took first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:25.11 and the 400-yard freestyle medley by ten seconds with a time of 4:53.17. Jennifer Litchfield took first in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-meter backstroke. Rachel Cook won the 400-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke with teammate Allison Azzano taking second to round out the day.
For Midwest City, Sarah Brown took second in the 200-yard freestyle, and Justin Dennison took second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
In Harrah, it was a switching of roles as the Carl Albert girls took second and the boys took third.
It was more of the same for the girls taking first in the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle medley. Alli Azzano took first place in the 200-yard freestyle with Rachel Cook also taking first in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke. Jen Litchfield also took first in the 100-yard backstroke.
The Carl Albert boys team had some record setting performances. Tim Hyland set a school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.14 and the relay team set a school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:36.09. Jaedon Roe took first place in the 50-yard freestyle
The Mid-Del swimmers get a long holiday break. They aren’t back in the pool until Jan. 9 at Shawnee.
