12/19/2013 2:00:00 PM Bombers Blowout Jaguars in Second Half

Due to inclement weather, the Bombers boys basektball team had some extra days off last week so they were dying to get back on the floor at home against Westmoore. Midwest City kicked off some early rust to blowout Westmoore 71-51.
It was a tale of two halves in this matchup. The Bombers forced nine first half turnovers but couldn’t seem to pull away due to some poor shooting. The Bombers shot 0-4 from the 3-point line in the first half. At halftime, the Bombers had just a 26-23
“It seemed like we got off to a good start because of defense scoring a little bit, and then we just went falt,” said Midwest City coach Dewayne Bradley of the inconsistent start. “I don’t know if it’s just not playing very much. We just haven’t been on the court.”
The second half was a bit of a different story scoring wise. Midwest City senior guard Torey Noel scored 7 of his 19 points in the third quarter to help the Bombers increase their lead. However by the end of the third, the Bombers still only led by seven points.
A close game turned into a rout in the fourth quarter when Midwest City senior guard Kesean Brown joined Noel on the scoring spree. Brown and Noel combined for 26 points in the second half.
“They should lead for us because they are the most experienced guys out there,” said Bradley of his two senior guards.“They’ve been through a lot in their three years here and we kind of follow their lead when they get going we’re a much better basketball team.”
The Bombers also turned up the pressure defensively with a full-court press forcing six more turnovers.
Eventually, the Bombers were too much for Westmoore turning their seven point third quarter lead into a 71-51 final score.
“That’s the way we want to play is to really get out and cause teams to throw the ball away,” said Bradley.
The Bombers travel to Wisconsin this weekend for tournament play in the Winter Snow Jam.
