Last Thursday, the Mid-Del swim continued to shine, as they went to Duncan for their second swim meet of the year. Carl Albert took first overall with strong showings from both the girls and boys. The Carl Albert girls took first place among the girls while the boys took second place among the boys.
The Carl Albert girls dominated in almost every event. The relay teams comprised of Rachel Cook, Ashlyn Hanlon, Jennifer Litchfield, and Alli Azzano took two first place finishes. They won the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 2:15.36 and the 200-meter medley relay with a time of 2:27.57.
They also placed first in seven events individually. Azzano took first in the 200-meter freestyle and 50-meter freestyle. Litchfield won the 100-meter butterfly and 100-meter freestyle. Hanlon took the 400-meter freestyle with Rachel Cook and Brooklyn Toney rounding out the effort with first place finishes in the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter breaststroke respectively.
The Midwest City girls took second place in the meet behind a first place finish by Emily Green in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 3:21.33.
The Carl Albert boys might not have won but they certainly held their own. They broke four more school records. Alex Lawrence broke two with a first place finish in the 200-meter individual medley after a time of 2:15.00 and second place finish in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:02.00. Jayden Roe broke the other two records on the day with two first place finishes. He won the 50-meter free with a time of 23.19 and the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:10.00.
The Midwest City boys did have one swimmer place first. Kenny Dennison won the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:32.05
Through just two meets, Carl Albert has broken 7 out of 12 school records and assistant coach Blake Shawn doesn’t think that’s going to stop at Duncan. “I’m certain at least one of those will be broken Friday,” said Shawn. “Hoping three of the five are broken.”
The Mid-Del swimmers get back in the pool Friday, Nov. 22 at Rose State College Aquatic Center for a home meet starting at 5 p.m.
