The Bully Pulpit
Bullying over the last few weeks has come to the forefront of American debate. It started at the end of October when a Texas parent called foul after their son’s high school team lost 91-0. It gained more steam last week as more information came out about the Miami Dolphin’s locker situation.

Thunder young players integral as season begins

The Oklahoma City Thunder wrapped up their preseason schedule last week as they looked to gear up for their two game road trip against Northwest Division rivals to start the season. It’s odd to see a team only one year removed from the mountain top of the Western Conference start off the season on a mini-road trip. Then again, the Thunder aren’t your usual title contender.

Thunder's Westbrook offers insights during media day

Tuesday’s news from Thunder HQ was brief and to the point: the team will be without star point guard Russell Westbrook for a few more weeks.

A statement from Sam Presti, Thunder general manager, advised that Westbrook underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday.

As a result, Westbrook is expected to miss the first 4-6 weeks of the upcoming 2013-14 regular season.

EastWord, RedHawks talk postseason

Here is the text of a question and answer session with team spokesman Alex Freedman.

EastWord: What is the atmosphere around the franchise as this is the first playoff berth since 2010?

Freedman: Very good. Everyone here is excited. Since joining the PCL in 1998, we have never won a title, and the last time Oklahoma City won a baseball title was in 1996 in the old American Association. We finished with the league’s best record during the regular season, and we feel we have a team that can win it all.
