2/6/2014 10:57:00 AM Talent show in Choctaw Feb. 11
Choctaw’s Got Talent is back by popular demand and will be presented at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 at Choctaw High School’s Performing Arts Center.
The competition will feature individuals and groups with unique talents such as singing, dancing and playing musical instruments.
Sixteen performing artists/groups from the Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District were selected from auditions held Jan. 27.
Competitors (see list at www.eastwordnews.com) will perform at least once but are expected to blow everyone away to make it to the finals.
From there, the top five finalists will perform a second time, with a different piece, but with even higher expectations.
Finalists will each earn a trophy. The first, second and third place winners also will receive cash prizes.
The audience will have an opportunity to select the “Crowd Pleaser” award by voting on a ballot attached to the program available for a $1 purchase.
The event usually draws a large crowd, consisting mainly of friends and family members to those in the competition. However, CHS Drama and Choir Directors Maryjane Burton and Dan Lucas, respectively, hope the surrounding communities will come see the show even if they don’t have a direct connection to a performer.
Tickets, available at the door or from contestants, are $8 per adult and $5 per student/senior citizen age 65 and up. All proceeds for the event will benefit CHS drama. Contact Maryjane Burton at (405) 390-6143 or [email protected] for more information.
