On the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 17, workers were at the corner of Reno and Midwest Blvd. putting in a new sign for the City of Midwest City.
The signage is part of a $40,000 "way finding" project the city is doing in two phases to help visitors find where they need to go in the municipal complex, which includes city hall, the police and fire departments, senior center, court, library and community center.
Each phase in the project will cost approximately $20,000 and starts with the main sign that went in this week.
Also in phase one, vinyl lettering on all of the exterior doors in the municipal complex is included.
Finally, phase two will comprise of all new consistent exterior signage on each of the municipal complex buildings.
Assistant City Manager Tim Rundel has headed up the "way finding" project.
"We value our citizens’ time and we wanted to make it easier on them by providing good signage so they will know where they need to go," he said.
The city contracted with Superior Signs in Oklahoma City for the project. The company completed an evaluation of the city’s signage before making recommendations on how to proceed on the project.
