A Midwest City woman called 911 at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday to say she had just shot someone and is now facing murder in the first degree charges.
Dianna Elaine Sanders, 49, used the pay phone at the 7-11 convenience store located at 8301 NE 10th Street to alert police of the shooting.
She told a 911 operator, "You might want to send an ambulance to 930 N. Pine, I just shot a gentleman…."
When officers arrived at the Pine address, they found the front door ajar and a middle-aged man, now known as Stephen J. Dollarhide, 54, lying dead on the floor.
He is Midwest City’s third homicide victim of 2013.
Sanders was located by additional officers, who took her into investigative detention. Her red Chevrolet truck also was impounded as evidence.
Midwest City police were on the scene Wednesday afternoon awaiting a search warrant to be granted by an Oklahoma County District Judge. Crime scene investigators will process the home and the medical examiner called to assist with determining the manner and cause of death for the male, police said.
"Unfortunately, we are working the case as a homicide but don’t know the underlying circumstances at this time. However, we are confident no one else is involved other than the original female caller and our victim," Chief Brandon Clabes said mid-afternoon Wednesday.
MWC police added that the next of kin of the deceased have been notified.
At this time, the 911 tape is not being released as it is being held for investigative purposes related to the homicide.
Police later released Wednesday that the shooting appears to be domestic related.
Sanders is being held in the MWC jail awaiting transfer to the Oklahoma County jail.
