Fritz Walter has an extensive background in the insurance industry working in a variety of entities for the past 14 years.
Now, Walter is tackling a new role as field representative for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society in the Mid-Del community and surrounding area.
Walter, who worked 12 years as an insurance adjustor, said he is excited about being part of a company that is 123 years old and gives back to the community.
"We’re a different kind of life insurance company," he said "We’re not for profit. We give back revenues to our members in the form of refunds and benefits. They also do so much to give back to the local community."
Walter said he has lived in the Mid-Del area since arriving from Switzerland in 1995.
"I just felt comfortable here," Walter said. "I work here and I go to church here."
Walter currently works out of his home but plans to open an office in the area soon. He said he is continually growing his client base to offer the best life insurance program he can.
"I am working out of my house but I am looking forward to opening up an office," he said.
"I get referrals from friends and existing members and I also go out into the community knocking on doors. You have to do a lot of different things."
Founded in 1890, Woodmen of the World is based in Omaha, Neb. and has over 1,000 chapters nationwide.
In 2012, the company’s asset-to-liabilities ratio was 1.10, indicating Woodmen of the World has $110 of assets for every $100 of liabilities. Last year, the company had a total income of nearly $1.2 billion.
The company offers a variety of services including life insurance, annuities, investment and retirement.
Walter said Woodmen of the World is also committed to giving back through various service projects.
Those projects have included presenting American flags to civic and community organizations, and by providing assistance to senior citizens, the physically impaired and orphans through its local chapter system.
Walter said the company donated $10,000 to each family that lost a child in the Moore school tornado.
The company also takes a 30"x60" flag to local high school football games for the flag presentation before a game.
"This just sets them apart," Walter said. "They give back to their community in many ways. That is their mission."
