Goldie (Pulliam) Wakley of Midwest City, age 97, passed from this life to heaven on Jan. 29, 2014.

Our beloved mother and grandmother was born in Carney, Okla. on April 12, 1916 to Elijah and Laura Pulliam. She graduated from Carney High School where she met the love of her life, Jim Wakley, with whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage. She was a wonderful, loving wife and mother, grandmother, homemaker and a devoted Christian.

Goldie worked during wartime at Douglas Aircraft. She retired as a claims auditor for the State.

She delighted in her family, birds, flowers, pets and reading (especially the Bible). She enjoyed OU football and cryptoquote puzzles. She loved going to Prime Time Seniors, and attended church faithfully at Oak Grove, Evangel Temple A/G, and then Bethel Church of Choctaw. In recent years, she enjoyed activities with her friends at Arbor House Assisted Living.

Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim and six older siblings: Clarence, Lonnie, Bryan, Pearl, Opal, and Bill.

She leaves cherished memories with her family: son, Larry and wife Linda Wakley of Broken Arrow; daughter, Karen and husband Michael Watt of Choctaw; grandchildren: Ryan and June Anne Wakley, Kevin and Julie Wakley, Lisa and Daniel Grothe, Julie Watt, David Watt, Sheila and Gary Heard; great grandchildren: RJ, Jaxie, Bella, Cooper, Chloe, Lillian, Wilson, Wakley, Dallas, Brooklyn, Kerry, Kyle, Melissa, Koby, a host of relatives and friends.

A celebration of Goldie’s life was held Feb. 3 at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home, Midwest City. Interment was in Carney, Okla.

Our Precious Mother: You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith. (2 Tim. 4:7). You will be deeply missed, but we find comfort in knowing where you now reside.
