Many years ago, I covered a tragic auto accident that left mom, dad and two siblings dead. It occurred in Piedmont and the dad, a veterinarian, had gone on a latenight call to help a wounded animal that had been hit on a rural Canadian County road. Thomas served on the Mid- Del school board for more than 30 years and was instrumental in building Mid-Del into what is today. It seemed at first that the city would get less leadership with an interim city manager. However, we will credit the council for selecting a retired city manager who stayed almost two decades in the same place.
