Mid-Del Food Pantry volunteers honored at banquet

Food pantry director Mike Anderson told the crowd that the number of families helped each day has more than doubled since he began work there in 2009. Anderson said the pantry was assisting 20 to 25 families per day in 2009. Now, that figure has increased to more than 60 per day. Read more

Mother, two children perish in mysterious apartment fire

Fire department spokesman Maj. David Richardson said the mystery remains because of firefighers’ attempts to rescue a third child they believed was in the apartment when the fire broke out. Firefighters later learned the woman’s third child was with her father at the time. Read more
