Building a resume and searching for a job just became a lot easier thanks to a new Web site and software that is being used by the Career Services department at Rose State College.

OKJobMatch.com is an active Web site for students and job seekers searching for employment. In the spring, the site also will be live for employers searching for workers, said Connie Myrick, coordinator for Career Services at Rose State.

“Job seekers in Oklahoma can go to one location to enter their resume and search for a job,” she said. “The site provides one common resume builder and job banks. No longer do people have to go to multiple job banks to look for employment, and it’s easy to use.”

The Web site collects job openings from 1,162 different sources. The Web site also provides a list of tips about building a resume without formal writing skills.

“You just fill in the blanks and the software automatically generates a resume,” Myrick said. “A lot of people find it difficult to put a resume together.”

Use of the Web site is free to Rose State students and the general public.

“It also allows people without any paying job experience to build a resume, which includes volunteer work. It takes the skills you have and matches them to those jobs and similar jobs,” Myrick said.

OKJobMatch.com also has been endorsed by Gov. Mary Fallin, the Governor’s Council for Workforce and Economic Development and its partner agencies.

Figures encouraging

So far, statistics show people who have used OKJobMatch.com have had positive results. According to the Web site, 35 percent of job seekers were contacted for an interview and 67 percent discovered job matches not found anywhere else.

Currently, there are more than 3,000 resumes in the system, and once fully populated, OKJobMatch.com will be the go-to resource for employers, Myrick said. This statewide job matching system focuses on the universal appeal across geographic and socio-economic boundaries, all industries and businesses large and small.

The Web site, once fully implemented, will include resources from Higher Education institutions such as Rose State College, Career Tech, the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, Workforce boards, Rehabilitative Services and the military.
