Del City WILD 5K slated

The Del City Runs WILD 5K will be held Saturday, Feb. 25 at Del City High School, 1900 S. Sunnylane Road.

The one-mile fun run will start at 8:30 a.m. followed by the 5K at 9 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the Oklahoma Children’s Cancer Association.

Participants can register for the race at www.signmeup.com/80826. The races will be timed by DG Productions.

Old Germany Restaurant to host Rotary fundraiser

The Super Bowl, food and beverages will be the menu for Sunday, Feb. 5 as Old Germany Restaurant hosts a $100 per person party.

The $100 tickets will provide a buffet, three drink tickets and the chance to win a $6,000 football pot. In addition, $1,000 will be donated to the Eastern Oklahoma County Rotary Club for its humanitarian projects that involve the Salvation Army’s Bikes for Kids, 3rd grader dictionary pro gram

and the eradication of polio worldwide.

Only 100 people will be allowed to attend the party. The $100 must be prepaid with check, credit card or cash. There will be no same-day entry sales. The final registration date is Thursday, Feb. 2. If the restaurant does not receive 100 entries by that time, all pre-payments will be returned.

Playground equipment fundraiser Feb. 10

Ridgecrest Elementary, 137 W.

Ridgecrest Drive in Midwest City, will host a spaghetti dinner and Bingo Night 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10.

Proceeds will be used to purchase new playground equipment for the lower grade playground. School officials have been unable to buy the equipment because of budget constraints. Last year, the school raised $25,000 to purchase new equipment for the upper grade playground.

The spaghetti dinner event will be sponsored by Johnny Carino’s, Walgreens, Panera Bread, and Walmart. Tickets are $5 and include spaghetti, bread, salad, cookie, drink and bingo card.

Singing Church Women to perform Feb. 16

First Baptist Church of Midwest City, 705 E. Rickenbacker Drive, will host the Singing Church Women of Oklahoma in a concert 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16.

The Singing Church Women, now in their 23rd year, will present music that tells the story of Jesus Christ. The concern will include traditional and contemporary anthem arrangements, plus dramatic scripture reading that emphasize the gospel story.

Admission is free. Women in the group represent music ministries of Southern Baptist Church from around Oklahoma. They have presented the musical gospel in several different states and in foreign countries, including Brazil, Romania and Hungary.

EOC Rotary Club Valentine dinner Feb. 13

Eastern Oklahoma County’s Rotary Club will hold its annual Valentine Wine Dinner Feb. 13 at Old Germany Restaurant. Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7. Tickets are $100 per person.

All proceeds benefit the Rotary Club’s efforts to help with local projects, including scholarships for high school seniors and dictionaries for third grade students.
