Lojka spent 29 years at the Midwest City Fire Department and served in several roles, including firefighter, inspector, investigator, public education officer, public information officer and fire marshal.
His favorite job was that of department spokesman as he answered questions from the press, and conveyed important fire prevention tips to the public.
Midwest City School graduate Lester Claravall will receive the prestigious Lewis Hines Award for Service to Children and Youth during a ceremony in New York City on Monday.

Thunder Girls to appear at Charlie’s
Oklahoma City’s Thunder Girls will appear at Charlie’s Restaurant and Bar 6:45 to 9 p.m. to watch the Thunder-New Jersey Nets game with fans on television.
Among the Thunder Girls will be Choctaw’s Hayle Johnson. Johnson and other Thunder Girls will sign autographs for fans.
Choctaw Kiwanis to host breakfast
Choctaw’s Kiwanis Club will host its annual pancake breakfast 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Choctaw High School cafeteria. Tickets may be purchased from any Kiwanis Club member.
EOC Rotary Club Valentine dinner Feb. 13
Eastern Oklahoma County’s Rotary Club will hold its annual Valentine Wine Dinner Feb. 13 at Old Germany Restaurant. Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7. Tickets are $100 per person.
All proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club’s efforts to help with local projects, including scholarships for high school seniors and dictionaries for third graders.
