Lojka spent 29 years at the Midwest City Fire Department and served in several roles, including firefighter, inspector, investigator, public education officer, public information officer and fire marshal.
His favorite job was that of department spokesman as he answered questions from the press, and conveyed important fire prevention tips to the public.
Midwest City School graduate Lester Claravall will receive the prestigious Lewis Hines Award for Service to Children and Youth during a ceremony in New York City on Monday.

The award was given to Burgett during a Nov. 9 ceremony hosted by the Oklahoma Distance Learning Association.
Rose State College has six programs that can be completed online. The courses are fully accredited by the North Central Association for colleges and schools. The programs are in business, English, history, liberal arts and social sciences. A sixth program includes students working toward a degree as a library technical assistant.
In September 2010, Burgett began coordinating curriculum with Tulsa Community College, Tulsa Technology Center and Oklahoma State University. This allows schools to share training resources, as well as other ideas for improving the quality of online courses.
Burgett works through Quality Matters, a nationally recognized, nonprofit organization whose mission is to research and identify the best practices in online education.
